Careful, this isn't an intelligent battery December 24, 2008

My problem is with the product NOT THE SELLER.
Written on the package
"Please note that the battery life display on the camera will NOT function with the Digital Extreme Power Replacement BP-809 battery." So the camera will never show how much life is left on the battery, it just show a red question mark.
"To charge the battery, you must use the Digital Extreme Power charger that is included in this package." So I assume you cannot charge the replacement battery in the Cannon camcorder. Also I assume you cannot charge the factory battery in the free charger. Cannon's battery actually has Intelligent Battery written on it and although the Cannon's battery would fit in the free charger, I suspect you may damage your Cannon intelligent battery.
The BowerUSA battery/charger is sold all over the place. The fact that this replacement battery isn't an intelligent battery is never mentioned. I don't blame the seller; I blame the manufacturer, BowerUSA. This surprises me since Bower has been around since 1949 and makes high quality photographic accessories. My dad had one of their lenses. I'll post a follow-up when I try to get my money back.

redhotbuys do not follow tru with their resolutions .Before thanksgiving.they did NOT send items I ordered that matched their picture . the charger did not works .I review negative . and they used manipulation. .they said they will replace the charger, they make-me change my review .now almost a month later ,still waiting . they send me a email . and the email . and say . they having new batch batteries is not works properly.. this company sell and buy defective product . now my family . special for my baby . will not have this christmas video tape or I need too buy new video camera. or spend money again and other charger. not buy for redhotbuys .
